STYLE FILE: What I Wore Day 4 at New York Fashion Week

I’ve had these overalls for a while have always struggled a bit with how to winterize them in a stylish way.  In this look I opted for a cropped top with a high waisted tight underneath to make the peek of midriff minimal and modern.  Topped off with a drapey cropped jacket and a platform bootie end edgy jewelry, the look was just right for the Sunday afternoon presentation of Imitation of Christ by Tara Subkoff at Buddakan.

It goes without saying that Fashion Week is a showcase for the latest trends.  It is the time when designers, buyers and fashion enthusiasts gather to decide what comes next for the industry.  But the truth is that Fashion Week is as much about what people wear TO the shows, as it is about what they wear IN the shows.  To find out more about what inspires the fashionable folk, I talked to Leandra Medine of Man Repeller, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs of Cushnie et Ochs and other natty guests about where they shop and what they love.

NYFW: Street Style from the Tents - Day 7

Before an afternoon at the tents, we started the morning at Pier 59 where Norma Kamali showed us that sometimes fashion can be flat… Show-goers mingled around larger-than-life cutouts of Kamali clad models, while a video of the girls dancing played on two walls. The fashion off-screen was just as exciting, and the well-dressed guests paused to dish on what they’re craving for next season, as well as their favorite freebies of the week!

After dozens of runway shows and umpteen presentations, Fashion Week has finally come to a close.  For many in the industry, it can be exhausting to keep up the pace for all 7 (8, 9…) days of Fashion “Week.”  But what keeps us all going, is the excitement of seeing something new come down the runway - something new to covet, lust after and dream about until next fall.  As the week wound down, I caught up with show-goers to reflect on the trends they’ve spotted - and what we can expect once the collections hit the shelves 6 months from now.

STYLE FILE: What I Wore Day 3 at New York Fashion Week

Marled wool, a blazer, tights and booties are all it takes to make shorts and a cropped-top winter ready.  This belly baring style is fun and on-trend, but it’s important to keep the rest of the look covered up and sporty to keep the look modern and not trashy.

NYFW: Street Style from the Tents - Day 6

Valentine’s Day at Lincoln Center was full of lovable style. Pops of red showed up everywhere - from dresses and shirts to scarves, bags and lips. In honor of this jour d’amour, I asked show goers what they planned to do to celebrate. From helicopter rides to spending it with mom, New Yorkers sure know how to spend a holiday. Check out what the tastemakers from Bergdorf Goodman are wearing, and the week’s littlest and cutest fashionista!
